Biden’s cabinet members, as Antony Blinken, and the chief advisor of national security for Biden also meet the pope. Both the pope and Biden exchanged gifts Biden gave a coin to the pope which was of importance from his dead son, a Iraq veteran. And the pope also gave a gift, which was a carved tile featuring St. Peter’s Basilica, as well as a collection of his writings. Biden said he planned to add the gift to his library. Biden also presented Francis with the a 90-year old fiddleback chasuble — the vestment worn by Catholic priests at mass — that was part of the archival collection of Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Washington. The garment was framed in wood from grounds of the White House and white marble from the original pulpit of the church.

The Pope also blessed Biden, and allowed him to have communion after his views not to outlaw abortion in the United States. Biden doesn’t personally support abortion but says they have a right to do that.
