Jason Kenney resigns

Jason Kenney resigns.

The UCP announced Wednesday evening that then Priemer Kenney had 51.4-per-cent support in a leadership review that was conducted by mail-in voting over the past five weeks in Alberta.

“I’m sorry but, friends, I truly believe that we need to move forward united,” he told a small group of supporters in Calgary. “We need to put the past behind us. And our members – a large number of our members – have asked for an opportunity to clear the air through a leadership election.”

“I think most of the divisions in my party came from COVID policy, and that’s understandable,” he said. “But I think that’s now in the rearview mirror.

“We’re leading Canada in economic growth, and I think most of the members of my party just want to move forward into the future.”

“I don’t think it matters what the actual outcome is going to be,” Wesley said. “There are going to be critics out there that won’t believe the result, regardless of what the outcome is.”
