Twitter: Taliban allowed to buy blue ‘Verification’ check mark for few dollars

As the new Twitter exec Elon Musk has introduced the new twitter verification mark, the new Afghani government currently known as the Taliban has been purchasing the tick marks for as low as less 8 dollars of 12 for Apple ‘tax’ This comes after the U.S Allie ‘government’ of Afghanistan was toppled by the Taliban which intern become the new government of the country in 2021. The twitter checkmark does not ask ‘notability’ anymore how be it a quick cash is enough for Twitter to allow such things.

But It is not clear if the Taliban, a militant group in Afghanistan, has purchased verified status on Twitter. Twitter has a strict policy against hate speech, violence and promoting terrorism, and has taken measures to remove such content from its platform. Twitter also has a policy of verifying accounts of public figures, celebrities, and brands, but now has changed it to be purchased by anyone, but it is not clear if the Taliban has met the criteria for verification to purchase the blue checks. In any case, it would be highly unusual for the Taliban to be verified on Twitter as the company has strict rules against promoting terrorist or extremist activities nonetheless this is only in paper as you can see Taliban affiliated accounts being verified via Twitter blue.

Hedayatullah Hedayat the leader of Taliban’s Access to Information Department received his blue checkmark according to reports. His account has 187,000 followers and he regularly posts about the Taliban administration. According to local media, his paid blue tick was removed last month, but has now returned. And Abdul Haq Hammad, head of media supervision at Afghanistan’s Ministry of Information and Culture, also ticked blue his account, which has 170,000  and Prominent Taliban supporters also received the blue check mark. And also Muhammad Jalal, who previously identified himself as a Taliban official, congratulated Twitter’s new owner on Monday, saying that Elon Musk is “making Twitter great again”.
